UM Could Learn NCAA Allegations Soon

A Miami archdiocesen priest accused of raping a boy for years is expected to plead guilty in the case Monday.

Neil Doherty will change his not guilty plea in Broward court.

He's accused of molesting and raping a boy at a Margate parish in 1990 and has been sitting in jail since 2006.

Now, retired priest Neil Doherty will plead guilty to some of the eight charges in that case and could go free.

Attorney Jeffrey Herman represents dozens of other alleged victims in civil cases against Doherty and the local church.

He says Doherty getting out of jail would be a travesty of justice and no child would be safe.

Doherty was facing a mandatory 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

His attorneys say, under the terms of the deal, he could be released from jail.
